GCS Emblem

 

The Globe and the encompassing circle symbolizes
the 'Global Village' of the globalization era. 
Letters GCS stand for Goodwill (G), Cooperation (C), Service (S), which summarize the GCS Movement. Oughtopia implies a society of what ought-to-be, a Global Common Society that is spiritually beautiful, materially affluent, and humanly rewarding. 

 Overall, the symbol represents the realization of 'oughtopia' and 'Global Community of Human Family' through the GCS Movement, where human beings can lead a worthy and rewarding life.


※ All GCS clubs must employ a standardized emblem of GCS International. The symbol could be downloaded from the GCS website.

 

 

■Organizing a Club

○ GCS Club Membership Eligibility

- All men and women subscribing to the spirit and goals of the GCS Movement    regardless of race, religion, political affiliation, or nationality.
- All men and women who are prepared to partake in the GCS three main spirit and five   major movements.
- All men and women with outstanding volunteer-ethic for the local community and with   constant self-discipline.
- All men and women who wish to contribute to the promotion of human civilization and   world peace.


○ Requirements for Organizing a New Club

- Support of the sponsoring club
- A minimum of twenty club members
- Submission of an admission application
- Approval of the national chapter
- Appropriate amount of membership fee or a fund

■Organizing a Club

1. Discussion about the club organization among five or more people who wish to join    the GCS movement.
2. Contact other clubs or the national chapter and hold a briefing session about the    purport of GCS clubs.
3. A minimum of ten founding members hold a meeting of promotors (Election of the    President and choice of the Club Name, etc.)
4. Submit an application for a new organization of a GCS local club to any national    headquarters. It should be reviewed by the national headquarters.
5. Secure members of at least twenty.
6. Hold the inaugural meeting with coordination with the national chapter.

Membership Admission

1. For a new member, wishing to join a club, one should express one's intent to the    local club officers.
2. With the recommendation of other members, the president of the local club reviews    and decides the membership admission on the basis of unanimous consensus by    the organizing committee of the local club.
3. One must submit a formal application for admission with a statement of intent. Once    accepted, the newly admitted member will take the pledge at the first club meeting    he/she attends.
4. Once the new member is registered, the local club should promptly notify the    details of the new member to the national chapter.
5. Procedure for membership admission:

 

○ Organization of a National Chapter

- For the approval from the international headquarters, there shall be at least three GCS   clubs organized in the country. 

- The National Chapter shall have a President, a President-elect, a board of executives   and staff, two auditors, and a headquarters office for its operation. 

- The National Chapter that completed its organization should register as a non-profit   corporation of the country it belongs.

■ Club Meetings

GCS club carries out a community activity based on meetings.  Through the meetings, a GCS club strengthens identification among members, promotes friendship, and seeks ways and means to contribute to the community.  The local club will hold monthly meetings, annual general meetings, extraordinary general meetings, the presidential committee inaugural meetings, commemorative ceremonies, etc.  

 

The Monthly Meetings

  After the inauguration of a GCS club, the club should hold regular monthly  meetings. All the members participate during the monthly meetings by freely discussing agenda and projects as well as resolving all matters concerning the club activities and management.  Tea time or recreation programs should be included for the club members to enjoy the meeting and develop friendship. The regular meetings of the GCS club are essential activities for promoting the GCS Movement.  If possible, the club will set a fixed date (or day of the week) of each month for the meeting so that members can remember without difficulty. The club meetings will proceed as following:

Annual General Meetings

 GCS club should hold the general meeting once a year. If necessary, the club can call for a extraordinary general meeting. Approval of budget, election of officials, amendment of the rules, and other matters of importance to the club are considered and decided at the annual or extraordinary general meetings.

 At the opening of the general meeting, guests from the regional chapter will be invited.  An award or commendation ceremony can take place at the general meeting by proposing candidates to the national chapter in advance. The officials of the local clubs can be either elected at the annual general meeting or at the extraordinary general meeting prior to the regular general meeting.  It is recommended to invite neighboring clubs or sister clubs to the regular general meeting as well as less fortunate people to share in the joy and inspirations of the main spirits of the GCS Movement.
